Delta Media Baggage Policy Update
Policy for Camera, Film, Video Tape, Lighting & Sound Equipment
Equipment belonging to network or local television broadcasters, or commercial filmmaking companies, is accepted as checked baggage at the media-related rates outlined below.
Requirements for Preferred Media Baggage Rates
- Media professionals must present proper media credentials at check-in.
- Alternatively, you may request preferred baggage pricing and send your media credentials via email to:
media.bags@delta.com at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure. - This applies to all travel on or after February 24, 2020.
Domestic Media Rates
- 1st & 2nd Bags:
Same as general baggage allowance if no more than 50 lbs and 62 total linear inches.
Flat media rate of $50 each. - Additional Bags (3rd–25th):
$50 each if less than 100 lbs and 115 total linear inches.
International Media Rates
- 1st & 2nd Bags:
Same as general baggage allowance if no more than 50 lbs and 62 total linear inches.
Flat media rate of $70 each. - Additional Bags (3rd–25th):
$70 (or €60) each if less than 100 lbs and 115 total linear inches.
Exception: For travel to/from/through Europe, South Africa, or the UAE, the maximum allowed weight is 70 lbs.

And don’t forget that when traveling with media ID, you can take advantage of special media luggage pricing. With a valid Media ID, you will be required to pay a discounted charge for checked luggage, which is far less than the rate offered by Delta (or any other airline).
